A while back I wrote a feature story about quirky Florida festivals, and among them was the Frog Leg Festival in Fellsmere.
So imagine my delight when the biggest event in the Fellsmere social season was covered by Philly.com.
Writer Suzette Laboy did a great job describing the town’s history, and also covered Fellsmere’s activities, restaurants, gift shops, and airboat tours on Blue Cypress Lake and other waterways.
Of course, the primary focus is the four-day festival, where 5,000 pounds of frog legs (along with 3,000 pounds of gator tail) have made this event (according to Guinness) the place where more frog legs are sold in a working day, and where you’ll find the world’s largest frog leg festival.
Who could argue?
