Recently I posted a blog about Amy Minchin’s VISIT FLORIDA feature story about the Panhandle Pioneer Settlement in Blountstown (which is the county seat of Calhoun County) and I was amazed when the Facebook page Old Florida shared it.
All of a sudden, people from all over the world were reading about this living history museum and learning about Calhoun County, located about an hour west of Tallahassee.
And now I’ve just learned some more about it – in particular what Calhoun County has planned for Christmas and the holidays.
They lit up downtown on Dec. 6, and Santa paid a visit on Dec. 7 (the same day they threw a Christmas parade), but there’s a lot more on the calendar. Public libraries are hosting holiday open houses (and giving away books); a 5K run takes place on Dec. 12 followed by a Tour of Homes on Dec. 13.
