If you were a less-than-perfect student years ago, perhaps the words “summer school” still give off a negative vibe. But add golf in the middle, and it’s all good.

Marriott Golf Academies offer some of the best programs in the instruction biz, and their new “Get Schooled & Stay Cool” packages at the Marriott Grande Vista are a great way to combine golf learning with the relaxation of a vacation.

Now through Sept. 30, 2013, these three-day packages include lodging, an intimate level of instruction (maximum 4-to-1 student/teacher ratio) and 12 total hours of teaching suitable for everyone from beginners to longtime players. You’ll learn full-swing tips, short-game essentials and proper practice techniques to take from the range to the course.

Also, the three-day schools include a clubfitting workshop evaluation (a great way to see if you’re playing the right sticks for your swing), video swing analysis and daily lunch with your instructor. Golf-intense stuff, but in a relaxed Orlando environment that includes an air-conditioned indoor swing studio – so don’t worry about taking every swing in the summer heat.

You can put the instruction to the test with unlimited access at the adjacent Marriott Grande Pines Golf Club, a great 18-hole championship layout that lives up to its woody name.

And of course the resort itself offers every vacation comfort you could want, from spacious one- or two-bedroom villas to pools.
