Five Florida Courses Make Golf Magazine’s ‘Top 100 in the U.S.’ list

By: John Schwarb

Course-ranking lists are a guilty pleasure in golf. So many publications have them and offer them in so many iterations, and golfers delight in being able to take a list and check off their conquests.

“I’ve played six of the top 10 in Shanks County, including all of the top three.”

Lists that cover the United States are especially popular, and everyone from avid golfers to golf-architecture wonks intently study the big magazines’ biennial lists. Golf Magazine’s came out recently and Florida claimed five of the “Top 100 Courses in the U.S.”, or more specifically five of the top 62 if you’re in the bragging business (as we are).

The representatives:

No. 14 Seminole Golf Club (Juno Beach)
No. 31 TPC Sawgrass Stadium Course (Ponte Vedra Beach)
No. 52 Streamsong Red (south of Lakeland)
No. 61 Calusa Pines (Naples)
No. 62 Streamsong Blue

How many of these have you played? I’ve been lucky enough to get to Streamsong and have played the Stadium Course many times, but have yet to walk ultra-private Calusa Pines and Seminole. Maybe some day if the golf Gods are especially kind.
