Has there ever been a better time in the history of golf to introduce a child to the game?
Major golf governing bodies are eager to boost the sport’s participation rates and know that kids are crucial, hence the formation and support of The First Tee and other nationwide programs.
Golf course operators definitely understand kids’ importance to the game – today’s kids are tomorrow’s weekend players and golf-vacation-takers.
Marriott Golf gets it, for six years its Family Golf Festival has encouraged families to tee it up together, introducing children to golf and – just as important – making the game fun enough to keep kids swinging.
A series of one-day family events will take place this year at 32 Marriott Golf-managed facilities all around the world, including a half-dozen in Florida. The days include free golf instruction, clinics, activities, interactive golf games, family golf programs, chances to win prizes and much more.
Also, after 3 p.m., families and kids can play golf for free as part of Marriott Golf’s “Kids Golf 4-Free” program, in which some 10,000 parents and children participate each year.
