Few sports shows on television offer the guilty pleasures of The Big Break, a Golf Channel reality golf show where aspiring pros battle in various skill competitions with one winner earning the chance to play on a pro tour.
It’s great fun for not only the golf (skills challenges include breaking panes of glass – where breaking glass is a good thing) and the usual reality show contestant drama (cue the crying), but Big Break has also taken viewers all over the world to amazing golf destinations.
The next amazing golf destination is in our version of paradise – Omni Amelia Island Plantation.
The series, which filmed in October with 12 women and will air beginning Monday, Feb. 24, 2014, used all three of the Northeast Florida resort’s award-winning courses – Oak Marsh, Ocean Links and Long Point.
Each boasts award-winning designers (Pete Dye, Bobby Weed and Tom Fazio) and have stunning views of the Atlantic, forests and marshlands.
“One of our objectives for Big Break is to place the contestants in tournament golf conditions while showcasing a picturesque destination, and we accomplished both with Big Break Florida,” said Golf Channel senior vice president of programming Tom Knapp.
The show marks the start of a relationship between VISIT FLORIDA, NBC Sports and Golf Channel that will showcase Florida as a preferred leisure travel destination.
Of course, we already knew that. Can’t wait though to see the women of Big Break battle it out on Amelia Island!
