I don’t often use the Golf Insider blog to tout benefit golf tournaments, since the calendar is so full of them. But “Gourmet Golf” for a great cause at a major Florida university? That’s worth talking about.
On Friday, May 3, at The Claw at the University of South Florida, the 18th annual Cesar Gonzmart Memorial Gourmet Golf Tournament will be held, benefiting the school’s Latino Scholarship Fund and athletics department.
The Claw is a favorite of Tampa residents and students, a woodsy par 71 with plenty of character. And it’s even better during this event, as 10 holes will have food and beverage stops, including Paella and Shrimp dishes and Cuban sandwiches from Tampa’s famous Columbia Restaurant and a fajita bar from Moe’s Southwest Grill.
Sounds like this might be one time where slow play is acceptable on the course. You’ll need time for all the food!
Cost is $150 per person, which includes greens fees, cart and a golf shirt. To register or sponsor, call 813-248-3000 by April 26.
