With all the lists of specialty restaurants out there for vegetarians, vegans, and gluten-free diners, I thought I'd write one for the carnivores to sink their teeth into.
So, if your idea of a special dinner includes a select cut 8-oz-ounce tender filet with a side of gourmet mac-n-cheese and a glass of bold, earthy red wine -- then this one is for you.
A short list of some of my favorite steakhouses around the state:
Where: Sandestin Hilton, Sandestin
Known for: Their custom cuts menu and table side fresh made Caesar salad.
My Take: I love their new tech savvy wine list. Upon being seated, your server will bring you an iPad loaded with their personalized app, enabling you to search their wine list based on grape, region, food pairing, and more. This is one fine dining restaurant that's making it okay to have the glow of a tablet along with your candlelight.
Definitely order: Their Grand Marnier or Chocolate Souffle for dessert. It's not technically on the menu, but is something they feature for special occasions. Order at the beginning of your meal as it takes about 25 minutes to prepare.

Ironwood Steak & Seafood
Where: PGA National Resort & Spa, Palm Beach Gardens
Known for: Wine Spectator 2012 Award of Excellence Winner
My take: You've got to love a resort where you walk into the lobby and the first thing you encounter are a sophisticated bar and cocktail tables. It's as if to say, "Welcome. Relax. You're on vacation now." No matter your choice of play, whether its' golf, spa time, or relaxing at the pool, PGA wil make sure you're well fed.
Definitely order: Steak. Seriously. All their steaks are brushed with herb butter and confit shallots and then broiled in a Vulcan 1200. You have to taste it to truly appreciate what that broiler can do. If you're in a seafood mood, I recommend the Seared Diver Scallops Dulce de Leche with creamy anson mills grits and popcorn rice.

Red, The Steakhouse
Where: South Beach
Known for: Named One of the Top Ten Steakhouses in the country.
My take: If you've got a special occasion to celebrate, this is the place to be. The vibe is more sophisticated and elegant then what you'll sometimes find on Ocean Drive, the wine list is impressive, and the steaks will make your mouth water. For a real "wow" effect, ask about their private rooftop dining.
Definitely order: Their Certified Angus Beef Prime Filet Mignon with artisan blue cheese topping. It will melt in your mouth like butter.
