Miami Spice Two-Month Dining Promotion

By: Rachelle Lucas

If you ever wanted to dine your way through the city of Miami, now's the time.

During the months of August and September, the city is celebrating its culinary culture with Miami Spice, a mouthwatering restaurant promotion showcasing the very best of Miami cuisine.

During this prelude to the autumn season, the 'epicurious' will have the chance to taste the best Miami has to offer without breaking their budgets.

Participating restaurants will be featuring specially priced three-course menus created by Miami's legendary chefs. And, as the organizers of Miami Spice say,  "It's a tropical fusion of ingredients that makes Miami an epicurean paradise."

Here's the scoop:

-- Luxury restaurants will offer three-course prix-fixe lunch at $23 per person, dinner at $39.

-- Fine dining restaurants will feature menus at $19 for lunch, $33 for dinner.

-- All Miami Spice menus include an appetizer, entrée and dessert as part of the fixed price, which excludes tax and gratuities.

More than 170 restaurants in the Greater Miami and the Beaches area are participating.

To kick off the two-month culinary event, diners can attend the sixth-annual Iron Fork, presented by the Downtown Miami Development Authority. Here, food lovers can watch chefs go "pot-to-pot in a sizzling showdown" as they compete by creating a dish using ingredients from a surprise basket of foodstuffs. The meals will be judged by a panel of local celebrity chefs and the winner will receive the prestigious Iron Fork Award.

The Iron Fork Event will feature plenty of food and entertainment as well. More than 45 of the participating Miami Spice luxury and fine-dining restaurants will offer a grand selection of gourmet food and beverages.
