It's my favorite time of year! Not just because of all the fun holidays or pumpkin-flavored things, but because it's also the start of stone crab season.
If you're new to Florida and have never tasted these succulent claws, you're in for quite a treat. And if you have tasted them, you know exactly what I'm talking about.
This year marks a special season though. as Joe's Stone Crab, the venerable family-owned Miami institution, is celebrating its 100th anniversary.
Still in the exact same location as it was in 1913, Joe's is famous for their stone crab claws, which account for over 50 percent of their sales.
Their menu also features a diverse selection of fresh seafood as well as other Florida treats, such as coconut shrimp, fried green tomatoes, and home-made keylime pie.
And because they have a century's worth of stories to tell, check out the new book by Deeny Kaplan Lorber, Waiting At Joe's. He takes readers behind the scenes of this flourishing business and gives them a taste of what it's like to have one of the most coveted jobs in the restaurant business, serving the famous faces of South Beach.
Here's the whole scoop so you can plan your visit to Joe's Stone Crab and where to check out the book.
