Tips for Traveling with Toddlers

ADD TO FAVORITES

Last week, I did something completely spontaneous.  I packed up my two and four-year old girls and we went on an overnight road trip.  It’s summertime and I wanted to get away for a few days to relax.

We travel quite a bit and I’ve quickly realized that packing is key when traveling with toddlers.  Here are a few tips that might be helpful as you prepare for your next trip –

-          Bring snacks!  Typically, when my girls start to get fussy, having a snack on hand usually settles them right down.  Plus, traveling for long periods of time makes you hungry!

-          Let kids pick one activity each day – Let them choose something they’d like to do and add it to the itinerary.  The activities they choose may surprise you!

-          Stick to your regular routine – Naps when traveling are so important with my girls.  If your little one still naps, keep them on a regular routine, they’ll be happier and so will you!  And while it may be tricky, stick to eating at the same times you do at home too.

-          Bring their favorite toy and bedtime story – Sometimes the smallest of things makes bedtime easier if they have the comforts of home.
