Did you know that are eleven National Parks in Florida? April 20 – 28 is National Park Week and all admission fees have been waived for visitors. Explore hiking trails, the beaches or even go on a family picnic – there are so many great things to experience in the state’s national parks. Here are a few of my favorites –
Castillo de San Marcos – Representing over 450 years of history, take a self-guided tour through this magnificent fort located along the waterfront in downtown St. Augustine. The lawn surrounding the fort is a fantastic spot to soak up the sunshine and enjoy a picnic.
Gulf Islands National Seashore – Enjoy the white, sandy beaches of the Gulf Coast at this national park near Pensacola. Whether you want to camp, snorkel or hike – be sure to enjoy the views of a beautiful Florida sunset.
Everglades National Park - With more than 1.5 million acres to explore, take an airboat ride to some of the state’s rare and endangered species – manatees, alligators and maybe even a panther. Birdwatchers can also enjoy the park, at one time over 350 different species have been found here.
