A few weeks ago, I visited the National Naval Aviation Museum to film an upcoming video blog. And if your kiddos love planes – this is THE place you’ve gotta visit!
Located on NAS Pensacola, the museum features over 150 aircrafts on display and what really impressed me is that you can touch all of them! There are no ropes, no barriers – you can walk right up to these planes.
With free museum admission and free guided tours – it’s an affordable and fun adventure.
If you’re craving adventure, don’t miss the MaxFlight 3D Flight Simulators – you’ll spin, flip and soar just like you’re flying with the Blue Angels. (I was too chicken to try it!) Also, save time to check out the IMAX Theater too – “Magic of Flight” features the Blue Angels!
Due to the effects of sequestration, the Blue Angels have had to cancel their usual practices. However, they still have a weekly meet/greet session on Wednesday afternoons. I had the chance to meet a few of them during my visit – cross that off my bucket list! I loved watching them interact with all of the kids at the museum, such an exciting experience.
While you’re there, be sure and spend time talking with the wonderful volunteers at the museum. Each of them are so friendly and knowledgeable – many have personal connections and history with the planes on display. I truly enjoyed my time at the museum and I’m ready to go back again!
