Last week, we took a day trip to the St. Augustine Alligator Farm Zoological Park for an up-close look at snakes, reptiles, birds, crocodiles and alligators. And this great attraction in Northeast Florida didn’t disappoint – we saw some fantastic animals on our visit.
I think my favorite animal of the day was the albino alligator, located right near the front entrance of the park. This type of alligator is typically found in Louisiana, I just couldn’t get over his coloring, and even his eyes were white.
Be sure and pick up a times guide for the daily wildlife shows – the Florida’s Forest Friends, features animals native animals to our state. My girls especially enjoyed the Realm of the Alligator show in the Alligator Lagoon where animal trainers shared great facts and even fed a few of them too.
How’s this for a cool fact - The St. Augustine Alligator Farm is the only facility in the world exhibiting living specimens of all 23 currently recognized species of crocodilian. There were tons of them throughout the park – pretty incredible to see them up close.
And don’t forget your camera … there are great photo opps throughout the park. You can even have your picture taken with a live snake!
And if you’re looking for an adventure on your visit, check out the Crocodile Crossing, the Alligator Farm’s zip-line where you’ll zip over the animals, including the alligator lagoon and get a great viewpoint of the park.
There are both beginner and advanced courses, so you don’t even need to have any experience. It’s definitely on my “must do” list for our next visit.
