My family and I are huge fans of the ‘Despicable Me’ movies, featuring those crazy little yellow Minions. So I was so excited to recently learn about the newest family suites at the Loews Portofino Bay Hotel at Universal Orlando Resort – they're Minion themed!
The new suites bring the movie to life with missile beds, just like in Gru’s house, and the yellow Minions are the highlight of the room.
The two-room suites feature a kids room with Minion-inspired bedding. The adults room features a king-sized bed with a newly-renovated Italian luxury design.
The thing I like most about these new suites is that there is only one door in and out of the suite. The kids’ side of the suite doesn’t have a door, so there’s no need to worry about little ones having access to the hallway. They’ll be tucked away each night in their missile-like accommodations and mom and dad can relax in the adjacent room.
A special time-lapse video captured the entire renovation from start to finish, along with the mayhem that ensued along the way. The project took more than 5,000 hours of work, 600 yards of carpeting, 36 missile beds, dozens and dozens of Minions and countless bunches of bananas to complete.
The hotel has transformed 18 kids’ suites into the ‘Despicable Me’ theme. Stay at the resort, and then go check out the ride at Universal Studios – it’s one of my favorites!
On-site hotel guests receive exclusive benefits, such as Early Park Admission and Universal Express Unlimited ride access – both great perks for park lovers. For reservations, visit http://universalorlando.com/portofinobay
