Stop shivering and start sunbathing! Here are a few of my favorite Florida resorts that are celebrating the holidays in a fun and festive way. Oh, and did I mention the weather right now is fabulous? Come join us in sunny Florida for Christmas!
A Giant Christmas Tree on Marco Island
Located on the white sandy beaches of Florida’s west coast, the immaculate Marco Island Marriott has an impressive 27-foot Christmas tree dressed in colorful ornaments and 6,400 twinkling lights, located in the hotel lobby. There's a life-size sandcastle of Santa Claus on the beach. You also find other cool stuff on the beach, such as two 12-foot nutcrackers, one eight-foot, 360-pound wreath and elves of all sizes.
Yummy Gingerbread Houses on Longboat Key
The holidays sure are sweet at The Resort at Longboat Key Club. Throughout December check out an elaborate display of life-size gingerbread houses in the lobby. Made from scratch by the resort’s master pastry team, the gingerbread town is complete with a café, church, “cobblestone” pavements and Santa’s sleigh.
An Edible Snowman in Fort Lauderdale
’Tis the season and the Fort Lauderdale Marriott Harbor Beach Resort & Spa is as festive as ever. The sprawling palm tree-lined resort unveiled their annual decadent display, crafted out of desserts and other yummy edibles. This year’s display, features a snowman deep sea fishing with a working six-foot light house and assorted palm trees and tropical foliage in the background -- completely made of sweets. Now they just have to keep the kids from eating it before Christmas!
Spectacular Sandcastles in Clearwater Beach
Sandpearl Resort began their holiday-season right after Thanksgiving with a magnificent holiday-themed sand sculpture display for you to enjoy. Two sculptors used 10 tons of sand and spent about 80 hours to create the annual masterpiece.
