Hilton Sandestin Beach Golf Resort & Spa Named TripAdvisor GreenLeader

By: Lauren Tjaden

Hilton Sandestin Beach Golf Resort & Spa is a toes-in-the-sugar-sand destination, the largest full-service beachfront resort on Northwest Florida’s Gulf Coast. It boasts 598 accommodations, more than 32,000 square feet of newly renovated, award-winning meeting space, a world-class spa and fitness center, six on-site dining venues (including a AAA Four-Diamond restaurant), abundant resort recreation options, access to championship golf courses and close proximity to area attractions.

And it’s not just a great place to stay. It’s a place with management that cares about the environment, the sea life and keeping our beautiful beaches pristine.

The Resort is proud to announce it has been recognized with the TripAdvisor GreenLeader Bronze title for its efforts to decrease its carbon footprint and make it more eco-friendly.

The TripAdvisor GreenLeaders Program identifies hotels that are committed to green practices like recycling, water efficiency and alternative energy. All properties must apply and be accepted into the TripAdvisor GreenLeaders Program. GreenLeaders achieve one of four levels: Bronze, Silver, Gold, and Platinum; the higher the level, the greater the impact of a property's green practices.

“Over the past three years, we have spent more than $9 million to make Hilton Sandestin Beach a more eco-friendly property,” says Gary Brielmayer, Hilton Sandestin Beach Golf Resort & Spa general manager. “We believe it is very important to recognize those properties that are doing their part to make this industry greener and are proud to be on that list.”

Hilton Sandestin Beach’s ecofriendly enhancements include the installation of turtle safe LED lighting, new beachfront decking made of MoistureShield, an environmentally friendly, long-lasting composite using a 50/50 blend of recycled wood fibers and plastics, and addition of electrical upgrades to LEED lighting and A/C enhancements.

That makes me happy. Because good planets are hard to find!
