Google Trekkers Bring Florida Beaches into Focus

By: Lauren Tjaden

Two million footsteps, 740 miles, 360 views every 25 seconds, and four months of walking: it all adds up to one very cool mission accomplished!

The Google Trekkers, toting Google’s Street View Camera, just finished marching all of the Sunshine State beaches, from Perdido Key to Amelia Island to Key West. Miami Beach's South Pointe Park marked the last mile of their journey on Wednesday morning, Nov. 13, 2013.

The Trekkers’ monumental effort will give you the chance to check out panoramic views of Florida’s beaches, built from over seven million images, starting in the spring of 2014. This means you’ll be able to find out so much more about destinations you’re considering visiting—because you can see them, from every angle, for yourself, on both Google Maps and VISIT FLORIDA.

And even if you’re not considering a visit, you should still take a peek. Because adding a little salt to your day always makes it better.
