The Pensacola Lighthouse is a somber structure, black and white, a towering sentinel set amongst large, shady trees. Framed with a picket fence, it looks like a postcard from years gone by. In fact, it is old: the historic building was constructed in 1859.
Inside, it feels damp, its walls thick with mystery. From its top you can see Pensacola Bay and the emerald waters of the Gulf, as well as three forts, the Pensacola skyline and the historic Navy Yard.
And it’s very haunted. Just ask the Travel Channel and SciFi's Ghost Hunters, or the psychics and clairvoyants that call it one of the most haunted lighthouses in America.
Or, if you’re in the mood for a spirited adventure—see for yourself.
On July 20, 2013, 8 p.m., you can join the Ghost Hunt at Pensacola Lighthouse (2081 Radford Blvd, Pensacola, FL 32508, phone: 850-393-1561). You’ll use real ghost hunting equipment; you can bring your own or share provided equipment. Some items will also available for purchase in the Gift Shop before the tour commences.
The Ghost Hunt is two hours long and includes a climb to the top of the Lighthouse. Per Coast Guard Safety Regulations backless/open toed shoes are not permitted to climb the tower stairs.
This tour is recommended for children 12 and over only.
Who knows what will go bump in the night?
