Beach Boot Camp Buffs up Bodies in Fort Lauderdale

By: Lauren Tjaden

A sandy beach is a pleasure for the toes and the soul—but it also can work wonders for achieving a bikini-worthy behind and legs.

Just ask Lt. Col. Bob Weinstein, aka the Health Colonel. His Beach Boot Camp, so effective and inspirational it’s been featured on the History Channel, is a military-style workout held at the Marriott Harbor Beach Resort and Spa in Fort Lauderdale.

While no one ever accused the Colonel of being soft, he’s not your typical drill instructor. His classes are brimming with positive motivation and lots of fun. Beginners as well as the super-buff are welcome to join the classes, which stress team spirit. Classes include cardio work, body strength training and abdominals.

Classes are offered Mondays and Wednesdays from 7 to 8:30 p.m. and Saturday mornings from 8 to 9:30 a.m. The actual workout time varies from 65 to 80 minutes.

If you can’t make the aforementioned classes, don’t sweat it. Small Group Early Morning Training is offered some mornings on the west side of the Las Olas Bridge in Fort Lauderdale.

If you’re in need of an uplifting experience, you should go!

The cost is $17 for an individual class, and memberships are as low a $3.90 per class. Check out Beach Boot Camp for more details.
