Art Meets Luxury at The Ritz-Carlton Key Biscayne

By: Kara Franker

With stunning ocean views, world-class dining options, lavish accommodations and a long list of outdoor activities (including miles and miles of a perfect beach), it’s no wonder that The Ritz-Carlton Key Biscayne, Miami is a favorite destination for travelers to South Florida.

When you book your next vacation at the resort, make sure you reserve a room on the Club Level. The 800 square foot Club Oceanfront Suite has a private balcony with incredible views of the Atlantic Ocean. Recently renovated, the ninth floor club lounge offers continuous culinary delights throughout the day (breakfast, light lunch, hors d’ oeuvres, beverages and dessert). The views of Key Biscayne from the outdoor terrace are absolutely stunning! You’ll never want to leave.

Club level guests also get access to a private oceanfront gazebo where staff will offer you a refreshing beverage, snacks and a cool scented hand towel. Take a dip in one of the pools or the emerald ocean waters, visit the spa, play a game of tennis, or enjoy a self-guided walking tour of the museum quality sculpture collection from the Elaine Baker Gallery.

The sculptures are whimsical and strategically placed throughout the interior and exterior locations on the property. Check out works by the following artists:

  • George Segal
  • Aurora Cañero
  • Sophie Ryder
  • Carole Feuerman
  • Robert St. Croix
  • Ernest Trova
  • Steve Tobin
  • Bill Barrett

One of my favorite pieces is Aurora Cañero’s life size bronze sculpture of a lifeguard, strategically placed to look over the swimmers on the beach. Originally from Spain, the artist has been working with bronze for more than 30 years. I love how the piece takes on a whimsical nature.

Insider Tip: The best way to experience the self-guided tour is to first download The Ritz-Carlton App on your smart phone. Then use the QR code scanner (within the app) to scan each of the QR quotes on the sculpture sign. Another option is to do the audio tour. See the concierge for a pamphlet with all the info about the sculpture tours.

If you go: Contact The Ritz-Carlton Key Biscayne at (305) 365-4500 or visit them online
