A crescent-shaped beach, wreathed in beach morning glories, fringed with palms, nestled against the impossibly clear, turquoise waters of the Gulf: Could you find any place better for a run?
The Florida Keys community of Marathon invites you to its 7th Annual Sombrero Beach Run, March 1-2, 2013. The weekend-long event features a 15K Challenge, a 10K Run and a 5K Walk/Run. Runners from all over the Keys, country and world participate – and it’s easy to figure out why.
The Race entry fee includes T-shirts; the festivities include music, awards, raffles, food and entertainment. Plus, cash prizes are up for grabs. And you can imagine how glorious it would be to ditch your shoes, dig your toes in the sand and cool off with a dip in the water?
Sombrero Beach is open to the public and offers free parking, bathhouses, a large pavilion, covered picnic tables, grills, volleyball nets and a child play-scape.
More happy news: 100% of the proceeds from this race go to KAIR, a non-profit organization providing food and emergency services to those in need in the middle Florida Keys.
