Manalapan: The Heart of Florida'€™s Luxurious Gold Coast

By: Kara Franker

Located between Palm Beach and Boca Raton on the southeast coast of Florida, Manalapan is a barrier island, famous for grand oceanfront mansions and miles of lush tropical landscaping.

My husband and I hopped on a couple of beach cruisers to experience the town by bicycle. The first thing I noticed: each and every person (and dog for that matter!) has a giant smile on his or her face. And how can you not be happy here? This place is paradise.

There is so much to do in Manalapan. Directly across the street from the Ritz-Carlton Palm Beach, on East Ocean Avenue and South Ocean Boulevard (don’t you love how all the streets are named “ocean”?) sits the Plaza del Mar shopping pavilion.

Where to Shop

With boutiques such as Angela Moore, Posh, Jeannie’s Ocean Boutique, Sea Stallion Traders, Evelyn & Arthur, Stepping Out Shoes, The Cashmere Shop, Via Condotti, and Jewelry Artisans, you will be sure to find something that you absolutely must have.

I wandered through the upscale boutique, Evelyn & Arthur, a family-owned business for more than 28 years. The store features a mix of contemporary and beachy resort clothing and lovely gift ideas. Need a little fashion advice? The boutique has personal wardrobe consultants to help you with your style from head to toe. To set up your consultation, visit them online or call 561-572-0900.

Where to Dine

Take a break from shopping to dine at John G’s, a local's favorite. They serve classics such as fish and chips, delicious salads and much more.

The resturaunts at The Ritz-Carlton Palm Beach are simply amazing. Whether you are looking for casual oceanfront dining to luxurious regional cuisine, the resort has many fine dining options:

Where to go for Entertainment

For entertainment, go see a musical, play or cabaret at the Plaza Theatre. A professional theater company, they are sure to have something for the whole family. For a list of showtimes and ticketing options, visit them online

Many visitors and residents alike enjoy long leisurely walks on the beach. That's entertainment in itself, right?

Where to Stay

Looking for a place to stay on this luxurious barrier island? I recommend The Ritz-Carlton Palm Beach. Over the next couple of weeks, I’ll be doing a series of reports about this lavish resort located directly on the sparkling Atlantic Ocean. From the panoramic views on the Club Level to its world-class cuisine, this resort is a destination within itself.
