Clyde Butcher says you’ll fall in love with the swamp – once you step into it and really feel it.
That’s right – get into the swamp. Get wet. Experience it from a whole new vantage point – while knee-deep in water, with a walking stick in your hand.
Clyde is talking about his “Saturday Swamp Walks,” offered each Saturday from October through March at his Big Cypress Gallery in Ochopee. Only 1,200 people a year are able to reserve a spot on these 90-minute excursions – and what a prized memory they’ll walk away with.
Led by an experienced and knowledgeable guide, Swamp Walks are for adults and kids with a sense of adventure and a love of nature. It’s the most unique and immersive way to learn about the Big Cypress National Preserve. Bring a camera – the scenery is mystical and the floral and fauna amazing.
Swamp Walks are $50 for adults, $25 for those under 18. Wear long pants, a hat and old tennis shoes. Bring a change of clothes. You can also bring a lunch with you to eat beneath the Cypress trees after your walk.
