The “end of time” just might be the best of times!

Fantasy Fest 2012, dubbed “A-Conch-Alypse,” is themed after the ancient prophecy declaring the world will end in December 2012. The outrageous annual masking and costuming festival parades into Key West Oct. 19-28, 2012, featuring 10 days of revelry on the subtropical island whose natives are called “conchs.”

The Festival features more than 40 masquerade balls, costume contests and celebrations, culminating in a decadent doomsday parade.  Events include:

  • The Mayan Empire Royal Coronation Ball to crown the festival king and queen
  • Goombay street party in historic Bahama Village
  • Salacious Unveiling: End of Time Headdress Ball, featuring prizes for the best masks and headdresses
  • Pet Masquerade and Parade, featuring animal antics from costumed dogs, cats, exotic birds and more on an oceanfront stage
  • Pretenders in Paradise costume competition
  • Fantasy Fest Street Fair
  • Masquerade March (featuring exotically costumed characters swaying through historic Old Town)
  • Battle of Bone Island burlesque showcase
  • Mayan State of Mind poolside party
  • Captain Morgan Fantasy Fest Parade in Key West’s historic downtown, a grand spectacle that boasts feather-bedecked marching groups, Caribbean bands and elaborate motorized floats
