Behind the Scenes of My Island Video Shoot

ADD TO FAVORITES

Have you ever dreamed of escaping to a private island in the tropics? Florida has hundreds of gorgeous islands, but there is one in particular we chose to feature in one of my videos this season for VISIT FLORIDA

Little Palm Island Resort & Spa is a magical place that is only accessible by seaplane or yacht. My husband and I arrived at the Welcome Center and sampled their infamous "Gumby Sumber" - a cocktail with rum, fruit juices and shredded coconut soaked in more rum. Wow.

After boarding the yacht, we found the best seats on the boat: the bow.

Once on Little Palm Island, it's like the rest of the world fades away. There are only 30 suites on the property, so its very secluded, not to mention romantic. Think thatched-roof bungalows with chandeliers in every room, rain shower heads (inside and outside), a giant tub for two (inside and outside) and spectacular water views from every angle.

We enjoyed dinner that evening by the light of a full moon at The Dining Room and watched the sun sink into the waves. Afterward, we kicked back at our private fire pit, just outside of our suite, and enjoyed the calming sound of the water.

The next day, our video crew from Tampa, Spark, arrived for the big shoot. They were a blast to work with! And I must say that the staff at the resort, especially Kevin, made sure we had anything and everything we could possibly need.

Kevin told us about the miniature deer that roam the island called Key Deer. Almost on cue, one of the cute little guys peeked his head out from behind a tree. Seriously. These adorable mini deer roam freely around the island.

One of the coolest parts of the shoot was catching some footage of pilots Julie Ann Floyd and Nikali Pontecorvo of Key West Seaplanes as they soared in a Cessna 206 toward the dock. Get this: I was tweeting about the video shoot and one of the passengers inside the seaplane saw it and tweeted back! Oh, the power of technology these days. Shout out to @KristianTweetin

We had the opportunity to go up in the seaplane the next day, so check back soon for my description of that amazing adventure and for the official video footage from the video production team at Spark.

For now, enjoy a little slidshow of some of the photos I shot with my iPhone. When you get a chance, head over to my Twitter and Facebook pages and leave a comment. Would love to hear from you!
