Food Truck Fridays: Wild Bill's Beach Dogs

By: Rachelle Lucas

Not to0 long ago, I posted about Seaside's wonderful vintage Airstream food trucks. Since then, I got a little more scoop on Wild Bill’s Beach Dogs and wanted to share.

If you've ever shied away from a hot dog, fearful of the minced mix of ingredients, then fear no more. Wild Bill's dogs have no antibiotics, hormones, nitrates, filler or junk. They're made with grass-fed beef from the Five Dot Ranch, as well as family-farmed pork, and the animals are pasture-raised.

It's a really fun story about how they came to Seaside. The city's founders, Robert and Daryl Davis, discovered wonderful organic "Let's Be Frank" hot dogs at a little hot dog stand in San Francisco. They had mentioned it to their friends, The Dawsons, who already owned several restaurants in town. When the Airstream became available, the timing seemed perfect and Wild Bill's Beach Dogs was founded.

Heavenly Dawson put tremendous research into bringing the best dogs to the beach, even traveling back to that same hot dog stand in San Francisco, visiting the Five Dot Ranch and arranging to import the dogs here to Florida. She then coordinated with a local Publix bakery to create the perfect-sized organic hot dog buns that are baked fresh and delivered daily.

So, if you find yourself craving a hot dog while on the beach in Seaside, head over to Wild Bill's airstream for a guilt-free treat.
