When my best friend and I were in the first grade, her parents went on a business trip and left her with my family for a week. It was the ultimate sleepover! Every night we stayed up late talking, me in my bed and Ashley on a makeshift palate on the floor.
Now that we're all grown up and live a thousand miles apart, such sleepovers are rare. So it was a big deal when Ashley recently flew in from Detroit to Tampa for a visit. We hit the road for a girls' weekend in Central Florida, staying overnight at Chalet Suzanne in Lake Wales.
I've already shared my take on much of our trip, including where to buy discounted LEGOLAND Florida tickets, where you can take a safari in Central Florida and five ways to enjoy Bok Tower Gardens with your best gal pal. So I'll let Ashley tell you about where we stayed.
I emailed Ashley some prompts, and here's what she sent back:
The resort's location was… very well signed (as in, there were a million signs and everyone knew about it).
This place reminded me of… a bed and breakfast.
Our room was… full of eclectic furniture and upholstery.
Eating at the restaurant was... an event with multiple courses.
The best thing I ate was… orange pound cake or the grapefruit with the sections already cut for you!
The best part about my visit (besides hanging with Dalia) was… exploring the history of Chalet Suzanne and looking at the pictures of all of the famous visitors.
Something people should know before visiting is… that this is a place that you experience and not just a place like a chain hotel that you stop for a quick night's sleep.
The celebrity I wouldn't be surprised to see here is… Ummmm…. Julie Andrews? My grandparents if they were celebrities?
Chalet Suzanne would make an ideal getaway for… someone looking for a slow-paced place to take a break from reality.
If you go to Chalet Suzanne... you will be welcomed with a personal touch.
