Treasure! This is a new, hands-on exhibit at the Imaginarium Science Center in Fort Myers where your kids can embark on their own exciting quest and explore Underwater Treasure, Buried Treasure, Gold Rushes, Treasures in the Attic, Treasure in Popular Culture and lots more.

Every aspect of treasure hunting can be discovered with all kinds of hands-on fun now through May 20, 2012:

  • Take the controls of a remote-operated vehicle (ROV) used to uncover underwater treasures.
  • Relive the Gold Rush and try panning for gold.
  • Experiment with metal detectors.
  • Embark on a geocache using GPS navigation.

ARRRR your kids into pirates? There’s even more fun to be had! They’ll learn to tie nautical ropes, design their own Pirate Flag and even create a souvenir to take home.

Want to win your way in? There are two ways: Visit the Imaginarium's Facebook page and look for the “I Discovered Treasure!’ contest. The second way to win is with location-based drawings at both the Imaginarium and Pieces of Eight Pirate Cruise at Salty Sam’s Marina. (This pirate ship cruise is SO much fun, even for adults. I bet you arrive back on land with your face painted, wielding a sword and sporting a tattoo!)

Bonus: Saturday, Feb, 4 at 1 p.m. in the Imaginarium Theatre, real-life treasure hunter, Pat Clyne will give a most fascinating multimedia presentation. Pat is the author of The Atocha Odyssey, and along with Mel Fisher, he helped discover the Atocha! (The greatest shipwreck treasure ever found!) He’ll also be available for book signings.

Admission is $15 per person. Reservations are required as seating is limited. For more info, call 239-321-7420, or visit them online. You can also visit the Pieces of Eight Pirate Cruise online.
