Places Three Florida Cities In Its Top 10 'Destinations on the Rise'

By: Gary McKechnie

I already have great things to say about Florida so it’s nice when others feel the same way. On, the feature story ’15 Destinations on the Rise – See why travelers rave about them’ includes three Florida cities in the Top Ten which is more than any other state.

Each listing includes a paragraph about the place as well as top things to do, cheapest flights, top hotels and best restaurants. Click the links to check out VISIT FLORIDA features on the three Florida destinations that made the cut. They are:

• Fort Myers
Coming in at No. 3, the writer calls out this Gulf coast community's deep-sea fishing, golf, beaches, islands, downtown waterfront, restaurants, clubs, shops, galleries, winter estates of Henry Ford and Thomas Edison, and neighboring Naples, Sanibel and Captiva. ‘Nuff said.

• Pensacola
Ranked No. 5, talks about its beaches, Gulf Islands National Seashore, fishing, boating, canoeing on the Blackwater River, the National Naval Aviation Museum and the Pensacola Naval Air Station. They should've mentioned the Historic District and Blue Angels as well.

• St. Augustine
One of my favorite cities came in at No. 9 thanks to the Castillo de San Marcos, Fort Matanzas National Monument, beaches, shopping, horse-drawn carriages, sightseeing trolleys and the Fountain of Youth National Archaeological Park.
