Daytrips from Orlando
Don’t worry; you can still go to Walt Disney World, and Universal Studios. But you may be surprised what other adventures are waiting for you, just an hour’s drive from Orlando.
Boggy Creek Airboat Rides: Located in Kissimmee, just outside of the Everglades, but with similar scenery, an open boat tour provides you with the chance to meet one of Florida’s most famous residents. I’m not talking about Mickey Mouse but the Florida Alligator. Your best chances to see an alligator is on the night tour, where you will look for the red eyes of a lurking alligator. The next best time to go is first thing in the morning. Keep your eyes out for turtles and exotic birds.
Cocoa Beach: Cocoa Beach is a popular haunt with locals. Work on your tan on the pristine sand, challenge your friends to a game of beach volleyball or test your balance with a surf lesson. Surfing at Cocoa Beach is considered to be the best on the east coast. For dinner, walk just steps to the Cocoa Beach Pier, where you can choose from an assortment of restaurants and bars. Nothing beats relaxing over the ocean while watching one of Florida’s famed sunsets.
So yes, you can have your cake and eat it too – all with just a short drive.. But you may want to consider extending your time in Florida. I just left and already want to go back.
