Sweet Island Treats

Anyone who follows me on Twitter daily knows I have an insatiable sweet tooth and a penchant for a hot cup of coffee. I even travel with a plastic coffee French press that I bring with me when I'm on the road in "case of emergency."  Thankfully, it wasn't needed at all during my visit to Amelia Island. While exploring the historic Fernandina Beach area, I stumbled upon a cozy little coffee shop that's easy to find and is simply called, Amelia Island Coffee.

It was exactly what I needed one afternoon to refuel with some caffeine in a quiet place and connect to Wi-Fi to catch up with the world. They always have iced coffee ready to go, which is a necessity in a beach town! In addition, they offer all the usual coffee house treats as well as a picnic-to-go with a branded cooler, snacks and drinks. What a fantastic idea! The beaches in Amelia Island are quiet and unspoiled, so you wont find any street carts or vendors peddling food by the water. Because of that, packing a picnic is essential. I'm glad Amelia Island Coffee makes it so easy!

In the evenings, if you're looking for an after dinner treat, look no further than the street corner of Center and 3rd Street where you'll find a row of people lined up outside Fantastic Fudge. They should add to their sign "Famously" Fantastic Fudge, as nearly every local I talked with said this was a pretty happening spot most evenings. With creamy ice cream, fruity gelato and hand-dipped chocolates, it's difficult to pick just one sweet treat. Fresh fudge is also made right in the store with an old fashioned copper pot and marble slab. Fantastic Fudge definitely lives up to its name and is the place to go for a chocolate fix.

Both Fantastic Fudge and Amelia Island Coffee are conveniently found right on Center Street in Fernandina Beach, so you won't need to travel far to satisfy your sweet tooth or caffeine cravings.
