Top Eats in Amelia Island

By: Rachelle Lucas

With each city I visit, I like to wrap up my culinary adventures with a list of recommended "top eats" for the area. Amelia Island had a delightful mix of casual fare to fine dining with atmospheres ranging anywhere from quaint historical buildings to romantic candlelit tables with ocean views. Here's my list of top places to eat in Amelia Island, plus a few more recommendations from locals. Just click on the links to read my full review for each.

The Ritz-Carlton's Salt Grill:
Here at Salt, you can get your inner "Food Network Star" on at their cooking school, or simply enjoy a gourmet meal with excellent views of the Atlantic. What's unique about dining here is they feature over a dozen flavored salts from around the world.

29 South: Located in a quaint historic building with a wrap-around porch, this is a great place to find organic options, Southern comfort foods and a fresh farm-to-table experience.

The Addison Inn:
Okay, I realize this isn't a restaurant per se, but they do have the best breakfast in town. Shannon's quiche is delicious! And just think, if you stay the night there, breakfast is just outside your bedroom door.

Cafe Karibo:
This cafe and brewery not only has fun foods and eclectic atmosphere, but it also gets points for entertainment too. They have theme nights throughout the week and live bands on the weekends.

Arte's Pizza: If you combined a true Italian pizza pie from Naples, Italy, with a NYC style pizza... that is exactly what you'll taste at Arte's. It's nothing short of divine!

Here's a list of other restaurants recommended to me by locals and while I haven't personally dined there yet, I'm sure the food is amazing!

More local favorites: La Cloe, Espana, Lanna Thai and Happy Tomato.

We agree with your list, and would add a few: Nana Teresa's Bake shop is adorable and has incredible baked goods, The Courtyard Pub and Eats has terrific food and has a charming courtyard to sit and enjoy a drink on a beautiful fall day, Hola Cuban Cafe has the best Cuban coffee, pastries, and sandwiches outside of Miami, Bright Mornings has incredible pancakes, and Lulu's has a gorgeous patio with yummy, fresh food. If you want to try out the great downtown restaurants on a wonderful food tour, check out! We take people to 5 of our local favorites restaurants, where the owner or chef prepares a special tasting just for us! So fun!
