And girl power in the new millennium:

If Northrup's idea of supporting women-owned businesses sounds good to you, then you'll want to pick up a copy of CRAVE Tampa Bay: The Urban Girl's Manifesto. The book is a neighborhood-by-neighborhood guide to some of the most successful women-run businesses in Tampa, St. Petersburg, Clearwater and beyond.

I was fortunate to attend the book release party this week, held at the beautiful home furnishings store MarketPlace Interiors - a female-owned business, of course.

Profiles range from Sara Stonecipher, who runs the vintage clothing exchange Misred Outfitters, to Melissa Deming of the popular Ella's Americana Folk Art Cafe.

The book is also filled with business tips and inspirational quotations from the women featured.

CRAVE Tampa Bay makes a handy resource for your next girls' shopping getaway to Tampa. You can buy a copy at these locations.
