My friend Kate and I found two amazing nightspots in Miami last weekend – Spire Bar & Lounge in South Beach and The Blue Piano Music Lounge & Wine Bar, located north of the Design District in the historic Buena Vista neighborhood.
On our first night of our girls’ weekend in Miami (see my post from earlier this week), the rooftop Spire Bar & Lounge on Collins Avenue could not have been more perfect. It was outdoors, offered comfy seating, great views, great cocktails and was quiet enough for us to catch up (Kate, one of my best friends from college, lives in London now. So we don’t get to see each other enough).
Spire Bar was designed by Todd Oldham. It is located on the roof of The Hotel of South Beach (which is also home to the acclaimed restaurant Wish), set beneath the glow of the hotel’s historic Tiffany spire (see photos).
The drink menu was extensive and interesting and featured “electronic cocktails” (again, see photos). We tried the “Key Lime Tini” and the “Dream Tini,” a delicious and creamy chocolate-raspberry concoction. The place has a tapas menu, too. For more info, visit www.thehotelofsouthbeach.com.
The second night, we tried the Blue Piano, an intimate place offering a great selection of wine, artisan beers and snacks. The music here ranges from jazz to blues to salsa.
When we first arrived, we took our wine and relaxed at one of the outdoor tables. We moved inside to hear the band Roky Sofi, a local "Indie Soul" band that is still pretty new. In fact, this performance was only its third, according to singer Raquel Sofia, who had such an amazing voice – so much better than many I hear on the radio! We loved all the songs they performed.
If you ever have a chance to see these guys, take it. Then, like Kate and I, you can say you saw them before they were famous. Get more details at rokysofi.tumblr.com.

Also, feel free to read my blog posts from earlier this week about all the highlights of our girls' getaway in Miami. Tuesday's blog post is all about my fabulous hotel stay and spa treatment, while Wednesday's is about the great performances at one of the state's coolest performing arts centers.
