I spent this past weekend on a girls trip to Miami with Kate, one of my best friends from college who happened to be in the city on business. It was wonderful to spend some quality girls’ time in one of my favorite Florida cities, Miami!

This week, I’ll be writing all about our Miami adventures, starting with my stay at the beautiful and luxurious Mandarin Oriental, Miami. There, I indulged in what could be considered Florida’s Finest Facial at the hotel’s five-star spa (Florida's only Forbes five-star spa).

While in Miami, Kate and I got to see a great show – Catwalk Confidential – at the amazing Adrienne Arsht Center. Unfortunately, that show has already closed, but check back here Wednesday when I will give a rundown of all shows going on now, and coming up soon, at this fabulous performing arts center.

Miami is known for its amazing nightlife and for having some of the best places to eat and drink in Florida. Kate and I had drinks at some great spots, both in South Beach and in the Design District … even at the Arsht Center. Get more nightlife details in my blog post on Thursday.

On Friday, as usual, my post will be all about dining, and this week's post will focus on Miami. Besides my culinary adventures at the Mandarin Oriental, I had delicious and memorable meals at the Royal restaurant at the Raleigh Hotel in South Beach, and at Michael’s Genuine Food & Drink in Miami’s Design District.

On our girls trip to Miami, I even got to meet Michael’s Genuine Food & Drink owner and chef, Michael Schwartz – the best chef in the South, according to the James Beard Foundation in 2010. I believe it, after dining at his restaurant.
