Sittin' Pretty at PGA National Resort and Spa

There are plenty of tricks for experiencing a resort without shelling out the whole enchilada to be a guest: eat at the restaurant, buy a day pass (if available) or go for some R&R at the spa.

I was recently fortunate to stay at PGA National Resort and Spa in Palm Beach Gardens. I got a manicure and pedicure from Irina, who's worked at the spa for 15 years. So Irina has it on pretty good authority when she says the spa is popular not only with resort guests but also with Palm Beach County residents and tourists staying at other properties. Services include:

  • Nail treatments
  • Massages
  • Facials
  • Waxing
  • Salon treatments
  • Cosmetic procedures

Your spa treatment includes one-day access to the Waters of the World pool area, so once you're all beautified, enjoy lunch at Waters of the World Cafe. Also, be sure to browse the spa's boutique. When my flip-flop broke during my stay at the resort, I hobbled over to the boutique and picked out a new pair for 50 percent off. Score!

Irina says the spa's busiest days are Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, so for major relaxation, book a weekday appointment. (Note: During the summer, the spa is closed Tuesdays from May 3 to Oct. 25.)

To make an appointment, call 800-843-7725. Be sure to ask about specials, like the Girls' Day Out Package: a 25-minute spa service, lunch at Waters of the World Cafe and access to the Waters of the World mineral pools for $99. Get more information about the spa at thespaatpganational.com.
