Jai's Top Spots in Miami

By: Kara Chalmers

I recently wrote a post about Jai Rodriguez, an actor and singer perhaps best known for being the “Culture Vulture” on Bravo TV’s Queer Eye for the Straight Guy.

Rodriguez is headlining this year’s City Theatre's Summer Shorts and he’ll be starring in Dirty Little Secrets, both this month in south Florida (for all the details, check out my post).

When I interviewed him, Rodriguez told me he was excited to be coming to Miami. I asked him where he might be seen around town. These are some of the places he mentioned:

Lords South Beach Hotel, Miami Beach: A gay resort with artistic, stylish rooms, and dining options that include The Porch – great for watching the South Beach scene from your table. Check out the hotel packages being offered now at www.lordssouthbeach.com/specials.

The Shops at Mary Brickell Village: High-end fashion as well as some great bars and restaurants. Check it out at www.marybrickellvillage.com.

David’s Café: A great Cuban café in South Beach, where Rodriguez loves the Cuban sandwiches (in fact, he said he would “live off them” if he didn’t have to take his shirt off as part of his regular nightly performances). Click www.davidscafe.com for locations.

The Manhattan Café: Located across from The Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts, Rodriguez grabs his pre-show and mid-show meals – and a café con leche – here. The restaurant is decorated with autographed show posters and playbills.

"I feel right at home," Rodriguez said.
