Nighttime Family Adventures

By: Jill Martin

Family fun heats up when the sun goes down with these exciting nighttime attractions throughout Florida.

When the sun goes down, many families wrap up their fun for the day, but wait ’til you see what can heat up after dark!

Adventure Landing, Jacksonville Beach

Suit up for a family game of 3D Laser Tag. Test your driving skills when you take a fast ride around the go-kart track. Play in the MEGA arcade, take a swing at the batting cages or enjoy the kiddie rides. You may want to take a nap because this place is open until midnight on Friday and Saturday nights.

Aerial Tours of Orlando

Get a bird’s-eye view of Central Florida when you take off into the wild blue yonder on an unforgettable aerial tour. For nighttime fun, choose either a sunset or fireworks aerial tour and see your favorite theme parks in a new light – and from new heights. This is really a special evening that's perfect for a date night too!

Bioluminescent Kayak Tours, Titusville

Make your own light show when you paddle through Mosquito Lagoon at the Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge – at night. It’s a phenomenon called bioluminescence, where light is produced naturally from living organisms like jellyfish and bacteria. Movement against the water causes the water to glow, so when you paddle, glowing streaks appear!

Boomers!, Fort Lauderdale and Boca Raton

Play mini golf in the moonlight. Test your skills in the arcade. Race to victory on go-karts. This place has so much going on, you won’t slow down for a moment. With its thrilling rides, bowling, bumper boats, a rock climbing wall and more, you can definitely get your game on at Boomers.

Family Sleepovers at Busch Gardens, Tampa

Feed a giraffe for breakfast – after you’ve spent the night sleeping next to the tigers! Your kids will love exploring the park after dark, and the experience will provide years of bedtime stories. All sleepovers include a pizza snack, continental breakfast and hands-on educational activities.

Family Sleepovers at SeaWorld, Orlando

This gives all new meaning to camping in the wild! Bring your sleeping bag and you can doze off next to turtles, manatees, dolphins, beluga whales and other interesting creatures! You’ll get to do all kinds of fun and educational activities. Plus, you know the kids will love having pizza for dinner. Breakfast is included, too.

Miracle Strip at Pier Park, Panama City Beach

For old-fashioned nighttime fun, follow the brightly colored carnival lights to Pier Park. It’s revamped and ready for the next generation to enjoy! Ride the Ferris wheel, Scrambler or the beloved Tilt-A-Whirl. Take a spin on the carousel. There’s even a butterfly pavilion!

Moonlight Zipline Safari at Florida EcoSafaris at Forever Florida, St. Cloud

Your heart will definitely be beating fast as you step off that first platform to soar in the darkness! Over the pines, under the moonlight – it’s exhilarating! Kids 10 and older (and adults!) are welcome to zip in the dark at speeds up to 30 mph. Moonlight zips are held most Saturday nights.

Pirates and Pals Fireworks Voyage, Kissimmee

Watch the dazzling fireworks over Cinderella’s Castle from a pontoon boat in the Seven Seas Lagoon, but first, enjoy a swashbuckling reception at Walt Disney World’s Contemporary Resort. This is fun for all ages and you’ll get a souvenir bandana, autographs with Captain Hook and Mr. Smee as well as other surprises!

I can’t agree with you more Stan. The Everglades are amazing. There’s a day tour that gives a great airboat ride near Fort Myers.
