Here's my new pre-flight boarding drill:

  1. Picture ID, check.
  2. Boarding pass, check.
  3. Shoes back on, check.
  4. Book… Buy it at the airport!

I’ve just returned from an excursion that began at Fort Lauderdale International Airport. Aside from the joy of visiting unknown places, family and friends, I had a lovely encounter of the old-fashioned kind - with a book!

At the airport, I stumbled upon the Paradies Shops' Read and Return Program. You can buy a book, paperback or hard cover, read it on the plane or during your travels and then return it within six months for a 50 percent refund! It's fabulous!

With nine shops in Florida, it’s easy to pick up the book habit again. You can find that best-seller at the Paradies Shops in Jacksonville, Daytona Beach, West Palm Beach, Fort Lauderdale, Fort Meyers, Sarasota, Pensacola and Tallahassee. The program is also available at the Gaylord Palms Resort in Orlando.

Books returned in good condition are sold at half price. If it's not in good condition, the book is donated to a local charity as part of the company's commitment to encourage reading.

Thank you, Paradies!
