TripAdvisor Declares Destin one of the Top 25 Destinations in the United States

By: Lauren Tjaden

To say you can go lots of cool places in the United States is like saying Flipper is a smart dolphin – a vast understatement! Which is the reason this award Destin won is such a big deal.

The laid-back beach town, snuggled against Northwest Florida's Emerald Coast, was just named one of the Top 25 Destinations in the United States by TripAdvisor.  It’s not Destin’s only recent award, either.

Check out these accolades:

·    Boating Magazine (the world’s largest powerboat publication) says Destin’s one of the 10 Best Places to Live and Boat.
·    Southern Living says Destin (along with neighboring Fort Walton Beach and Okaloosa Island) is the Best Beach Town in the South.
·    Destin’s currently the No. 2 driving destination in the state (behind Orlando).

Destin didn’t just luck into these awards by chance. It’s unpretentious, breathtakingly beautiful and  famed for its sugar-white, soft-sand beaches and emerald-flecked surf. Its plentiful, hungry underwater population has led to its acclaim as the “World’s Luckiest Fishing Village.” It also boasts spirited seaside celebrations and an abundance of golf and accommodations.

And here's more news to make you fling your flip-flops in joy! More than 60 percent of the area beaches are going to be preserved forever, so you – and your kids and grandkids – will be able to enjoy them in the future.

Other must-see-cities on TripAdvisor’s list include Orlando and Miami.

Insider’s Tip: While you’re in Destin, make sure to splash over to Henderson Beach State Park – it’s as sweet as a springtime strawberry. If you want to see what I mean, snag a peek at the pristine paradise in my video.
