The place to "be" in Grayton Beach to grab a cup of coffee, delicious breakfast and a dose of inspiration is Hibiscus Coffee & Guest House. Upon arriving amid the canopied oak trees and tall pines, you'll notice a jasmine framed chalkboard under their sign that simply says, "BE ... ." Each day, they choose a thought provoking word to add to the sign such as "BE generous, BE kind, BE forgiving." You can peruse through an archive of these BE words and insightful messages on their blog or head down and read today's message in person and stay for an endless cup of coffee and gourmet organic breakfast.
Inside, you'll find cozy family-style dining that is just as welcoming as your grandmother's kitchen complete with kitsch Florida knickknacks including vintage cups, plates and salt and pepper shakers. For breakfast, I recommend their to-die-for "Cinnamon Roll French Toast" topped with cinnamon buttered pecans or their "Waffle Wonderful" topped with chunky peanut butter, fresh fruit, coconut, pecans and honey. If you're hankerin' for something more savory, they also have a quiche, frittata and vegan bake of the day.
On the weekends, Hibiscus turns into a relaxing outdoor entertainment venue with live musician and artists performing in their Backyard of Love. Hibiscus is also an inn with 12 guest rooms and is home to Studio 30A, an art cooperative that includes South Walton's 2012 Artist of the Year, Allison Craft.
