The St. John's Town Center in Jacksonville is filled with all the makings of a top-notch mall. You'll find Louis Vuitton and BCBG, Ann Taylor and Abercrombie -- pretty much every store you'd expect to see in a sophisticated collection of clothiers and accessory shops. But it's the little, somewhat unexpected touches that make this mall experience so memorable.

The open-air setup makes shopping alfresco a great experience. It's great to be able to enjoy the sunshine while you shop. You can even pull up right in front of your store of choice with plenty of curbside parking all along the mall's main corridor. And, if your little ones' feet grow tired, hop on the friendly and convenient train for a quick ride through the square. On the day that I was there little ones were loving the choo-choo!

But the biggest hit, by far, were the ponds, located in the middle of the Town Center, that tie each side of the shops together. There's a Koi pond that's filled with beautiful fish and a turtle habitat that calls kids over from all around. I snapped these photos with my Kodak Zi8 to give you an idea.

Walking bridges and natural estuary plantings make the pretty ponds a perfect and pleasurable break for the whole family. Especially nice is the coffee shop just across the street. Plan to have a meal at St. John's Town Center, too. With several restaurants to choose from, ranging from Italian to gourmet Mexican food, there's a taste to please your palate, no matter what you're looking for.

More than 10 million people visit this self-described lifestyle center every year. Be sure to add your visit to the list. You'll be glad you did!
