The heat is on May 15-16, 2010, as The Boardwalk Beach Resort in Panama City Beach plays host to not one, but two extreme sporting events on the area’s famous sugar-white sand beach and in the emerald green Gulf waters. The entire family will have fun cheering on these amazing athletes as they speed and spike their way to the winner’s circle.
Family-Friendly Sports Weekend on Land and Sea
Upstate Watercraft Promotions (UWP) presents the 2010 International Jet Sports Boating Association’s (IJSBA) National Tour of Watercross Racing and the Extreme Volleyball Professionals (EVP) Pro Beach Volleyball Tour on the same weekend.
Similar to motorcross, the “Supercup of Watercross” asks the country’s top professional watercross racers to tame the Gulf of Mexico with agile moves on personal watercraft in order to claim victory and the $10,000 purse prize. EVP Island brings together top athletes from 2009 with teams from across the country to vie for a $3,000 prize.
In addition to the race events, spectators will enjoy a festive atmosphere with food, entertainment and fun. Sports fans are invited to meet all of the athletes during the post-event party Saturday evening.
Boardwalk Beach Resort: Host with the Most
The Boardwalk Beach Resort’s expansive beachfront is the perfect spot in the sand to host two spectator beach events. But the stunning sugar-white sand beach is just the beginning of what this host venue has to offer.
The resort features 320 affordable hotel rooms, plus a 22-story high-rise luxury condominium building overlooking the Gulf of Mexico. Whether you chose to stay at the condo or the hotels, you are assured a front-row seat to the action as well as spectacular views of the Gulf.
The Boardwalk Condominium offers amenities including an inviting 2,500-square-foot swimming pool with cascading waterfall, Jacuzzi hot tub, kids Splash Zone with interactive water toys. A fitness center features massage therapy, sauna and steam rooms and more.
All Boardwalk guests have access to beach adventures rentals, indoor and outdoor dining options, a convenient market and supervised children’s programs, not to mention the largest private beach in the area.
Panama City Beach Is Summer Fun Hot Spot
The more you explore the beautiful nature, endless activities and rich culture of Panama City Beach, the more this destination comes alive. It’s no wonder this stunning 27-mile stretch of white-sand beaches has welcomed travelers back to its beaches for nearly 75 years.
When Main Street is known as Miracle Strip Parkway, you know you’re in the kind of town where anything is possible – and miracles are no exception. With mysterious shipwrecks, amazing mazes, wild rides, amusing parks, goofy golf and worlds filled with exotic animals, any ordinary day in Panama City Beach becomes extraordinary.
It’s not surprising that Frommer’s Travel Guide ranked the area one of the top destinations in the world for 2010.
