Another busy (but super fun) day here in Northwest Florida!
I camped at the Gregory E. Moore RV Resort, which is part of Topsail Hill Preserve State Park, which happens to be one of my top picks for RV'ers. You'll see all sorts of recreational vehicles here, from pop up trailers, to fifth wheels, and big huge Class A luxury motorhomes. There's also a tent camping area, which is where I made my home for the evening. Early in the morning, I could hear the sound of the ocean in the distance. Nice!
Bright and early the next morning, I rode my bike down to the beach. If you don't have a bike or have a lot of stuff you are bringing to the beach, take the tram. It's an easy bike ride, and an even easier tram ride. Once you get to the beach, you'll be greeted by huge sand dunes. Take the short boardwalk over the dunes, and there's an unbelievable beach on the other side. Today, there was quite a bit of June grass in the water, which is normal for this time of year at beaches all up and down the coast here. Also, I did see a couple of Coast Guard helicopters overhead, and a few members of a cleanup crew on the beach. Didn't see any signs of oil, but just know these folks are on the beach patrolling and keeping a close eye on the situation.
After a nice morning at Topsail Hill, I took the short drive over to the Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort, where I'm currently at for the next couple of days. It's always funny - one day I'll be camping out under the stars, and the next day I'll be staying in a super nice place like this! I got settled in my room, and took the short walk over to The Village of Baytowne Wharf. It's full of great restaurants, shops, and there's even a zip line! Maybe tomorrow I'll fly over the village on the zip line. There's lots of folks out listening to live music, and the weather is perfect right now. My balcony door is open and I can see all the big boats in the marina. Yes, things are pretty good right now!
More stuff tomorrow - zipline, perhaps. Keep checking back!
