In Tampa's Hyde Park, Shopping Goes to the Dogs

By: Dalia Colon

My friend just moved from Chicago to Tampa with her two Jack Russell terriers. I asked her in what neighborhood she'd be living, and she told me Hyde Park.

Lucky dogs.

Unbeknownst to my friend, she'd moved into what's probably the most canine-friendly part of Tampa. In Hyde Park, boutiques roll out the red carpet for dogs, offering treats, water bowls and an open-door policy. Many restaurants also allow dogs on their patio. So if you find yourself in need of some retail therapy in Tampa, bring your well-behaved pooch along as your shopping buddy. It takes a true friend to accompany you into the dressing room to tell you if those jeans really look good on you. And who better than man's best friend?
