Step right up for attractions galore in Destin and Fort Walton Beach

The Emerald Coast is famous for its 24 miles of spectacular sugar-sand beaches, but dig a little deeper into this family-friendly destination, and you’ll discover plenty of possibilities off the sandy path.

Whether you are looking for high-octane adventures for the kids or low-key and lazy ways to wile away the day as a couple, they have plenty of amazing attractions and entertaining events for everyone.

Your Ticket to Adventure

Make a splash at Big Kahuna’s water park, zoom your way around The Track family recreation center or just go wild at Florida’s Gulfarium. No matter how old you are, the Emerald Coast has your ticket to fun and adventure.

Learning something new can be exciting for the entire family. Dig into the fascinating local history at the Indian Temple Mound Museum, explore centuries of our military might at Air Force Armament Museum and discover the romantic tale of how the world’s luckiest fishing village began at the Destin History & Fishing Museum.

Get into the Swing of Things

Did you know the Emerald Coast area offers more than 1,000 holes of golf? Regatta Bay’s 18-hole championship course designed by Robert Walker (Arnold Palmer’s chief architect); Fred Couples’ signature course at Kelly Plantation; Emerald Bay Golf Club and Indian Bayou Golf Club are all beautiful public courses conveniently located within a mile or so of one another.

Fort Walton Beach has great options for golf lovers, too. The Pines and The Oaks are the city’s public courses and Shalimar Pointe Country Club is a semi-private 18-hole course. Why choose just one? Go for it and plan to play them all.

Relaxation Is in the Bag

With so many options along the Emerald Coast, you’ll be tempted to ditch your beach bag in favor of carefree shopping. A trip to Destin isn’t complete without a stroll the shops of lovely Destin Commons (featuring new stores like Barks Avenue, Bella Beach Jewelry and Crocs) and lively HarborWalk Village. After shopping you can grab a bite, catch a movie or listen to live music, so plan to make a day of it. And don’t forget about the fabulous specialty boutiques all along the coast perfect for that keepsake beach souvenir.

Make Your Fall eventful

Every day has a sense of celebration along the Emerald Coast. With fantastic fall events, it’s easy to find a reason to visit. It’s a sure bet you’ll have fun at the 18th Annual Emerald Coast Poker Run (Aug. 15). Reel in fun at the 32nd Annual Destin Seafood Festival (Sept. 17-19). And be sure to collar your four-legged friends and family for Dog Daze at the Fort Walton Landing (Sept. 25).

Though there are tons of terrific things to do, their beaches are still the most beautiful attraction. The Emerald Coast beaches are safe and open for business; visit www.supportyourbeach.com for current updates.
