On Sat., Jan. 30, the historic Gulfport Casino will take us back to Florida's days gone by with a very cool and kitschy show that includes vintage Florida antiques and esteemed art from the Florida Highwaymen.
You know, these are all the pieces that let people know you've really been to Florida because Florida's the only place you can find such adventurously audacious souvenirs...alligator ashtrays, pink flamingo coat racks, cigar boxes, postcards from old Florida hotels and more.
There will be plenty of roadside collectibles for your collection. After nine years of putting this show together, the organizers have created the buzz that brings out the area's best vendors. But, in addition to the kitsch, serious historians and collectors of authentic Florida experiences and art will delight at the opportunity to meet the Florida Highwaymen.
You might recall the Florida Highwaymen artists from some of my past posts. They'll be on hand to sell and autograph their renown works. James Gibson, Issac Knight, Robert Lewis, Willie Reagan, Roy McLendon Sr. and Al Black are a few of the Highwaymen artists who have regularly participated in this
show in the past.
The show runs from 10 a.m. - 5p.m. and promises a full day of affordable authentic Florida, fun, food and sun. See you there!
