ADD TO FAVORITES

Admittedly, Homestead is not the first thought that might come to your mind when thinking of a wine weekend getaway. South Florida rightfully lays its claim to fame with some of the most beautiful beaches and fabulous shopping you'll experience, anywhere, ever.

And, while I still think the serious wine connoisseur should stick to Sonoma and Napa, we have some wine-related fun down in Homestead that's worth a date saved on your Florida itinerary. Friday Nights at The Winery is a regular event produced by the Schnebly Redlands Winery. Live music, dancing and wine produced by Schnebly vintners round out entertaining nights that are cool for the whole family.

Schnebly encourages you to stop by the locally famous Capri Restaurant to grab a pizza, roll out a picnic blanket and enjoy the winery's beautiful grounds. The next time the winery heats up on Friday night will be Feb. 19. Iko-Iko, a Miami-based blues favorite is slated to play. With a reasonable cover of $6 for adults and $4 for kids, this sounds like a nice way to experience some of the hidden pleasures South Florida has to offer. Check out the complete calendar for a date that works for you.

In true Florida fashion you can look forward to a great, and always responsible, time!
