Get a Kick out of the Rockettes in Jacksonville

By: Kara Chalmers

Here’s a fun, get-in-the-holiday-spirit kind of show to see: the Radio City Christmas Spectacular, starring the world-famous Radio City Rockettes.

And you don’t even have to go to New York to experience it. This year, the spectacular’s playing at the Times-Union Center’s Moran Theater in Jacksonville for the first time ever. It runs through Sunday (Dec. 12).

This show, which debuted in 1933, is not called “America’s favorite holiday show” for nothing. It plays at Radio City Music Hall in New York, as well as in 25 other cities, and it’s a favorite holiday tradition for some two million people each year.

The spectacular features the Rockettes, a group known for eye-high kicks and precision dance moves (the Parade of the Wooden Soldiers, pictured, is a signature number in this production), as well as amazing special effects and costumes, even a Santa appearance.

Through Friday (Dec. 10), you can get 25 percent off tickets when you use the passcode TMOCT online at or by calling 904-632-3373.
